Children's Nursery Rhyme and Poem
Mary had a little lamb

A Nursery Rhyme Poem for Children

Mary had a little lamb its fleece was white as snow;
And everywhere that Mary went, the lamb was sure to go.
It followed her to school one day, which was against the rule;
It made the children laugh and play, to see a lamb at school.
And so the teacher turned it out, but still it lingered near,
And waited patiently about till Mary did appear.
"Why does the lamb love Mary so?" the eager children cry;
"Why, Mary loves the lamb, you know" the teacher did reply.

Oranges and Lemons and Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary are two examples of a Nursery Rhyme with a very unpleasant origin and history behind them! We recommend www.rhymes.org.uk if you wish to find out more about the mysterious and often blood thirsty Origin and History of Nursery Rhymes Every time you read a Nursery Rhyme or poem for children take a second look at the words and lyrics and you, or your child, may find a secret message!
